Position Summary:
The Second Chance Pell Liaison provides support to the campus lead for the Second Chance Pell programs at CT State CC Quinebaug Valley and Three Rivers Campuses. The Second Chance Pell Liaison’s main function is to provide support for the campus lead of the Second Chance Pell programs at CT State Three Rivers and CT State Quinebaug Valley.
Example of Job Duties:
Under the direction of the Interim Associate Dean of Non-traditional Transition Programs for Connecticut State Community College, the Second Chance Pell Liaisons responsible for effective performance in these essential duties:
- Support all aspects of the Second Chance Pell at CT State Three Rivers and CT State Quinebaug Valley.
- Work with CT State Three Rivers and CT State Quinebaug Valley’s One Stop Enrollment Center, Financial Aid, Business Office, Continuing Education, Information Technology, Manufacturing, Academic Affairs, and Human Resources to provide support for all aspects of the Second Chance Pell program.
- Main point of contact between CT State Three Rivers and CT State Quinebaug Valley and the Department of Correction Central Office and contacts at each facility.
- Coordinate the scheduling of classes at each DOC facility with facility contacts.
- Coordinate the delivery of student supplies to each DOC facility.
- Meet with current and potential students to complete all application and financial aid paperwork.
- Coordinate and administer all placement testing requirements in compliance with CT State Three Rivers and CT State Quinebaug Valley's policy.
- Respond to student inquiries.
- Coordinate graduation ceremonies at each DOC facility
- Respond to all Federal Department of Education and VERA Institute inquiries.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in education or related area.
Incumbents are required to have demonstrated advanced knowledge and abilities in the following:
- Demonstrated ability to successfully work with the Department of Corrections (DOC) and multiple offices within Quinebaug Valley and Three Rives Community Colleges.
- Knowledge of and experience working with DOC safety and security policies and practices.
- Demonstrated ability to work with complex educational programs that provide incarcerated students with access to high quality courses and adhere to CT State CC Quinebaug Valley and Three Rivers Campus policy and NECHE standards.
Candidates must possess proven ability to effectively work with culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and students. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.).
Special Requirements:
- Candidate will need to pass a DOC background check.
- Candidate will need to attend a DOC required training on safety and security.
- Candidate will need to complete a Site Sense training for each DOC facility.
Preferred Qualifications:
- One (1) year of experience working in a prison.
Salary:
$39.44 hourly.
